The University of Texas together with colleagues from other research centers has created a molecule that makes cancer cells to self-destruct, introducing ions of sodium and chloride in them. This molecule is a synthetic carrier.
It is known that for the cell`s activity is necessary to maintain a stable concentration of ions in the cell membranes. If the balance is interrupted, the cell dies.
But in cancer cells this mechanism of introduction ions in the membrane changes. Thus, the cancer is prevented by apoptosis (cell death), writes Meddaily.
