Team of researchers dealing with self-organizing systems at Harvard University succeeded in realizing precise interaction between the 1024 „kiloboti“ – tiny robots, with a diameter of about three centimeters. „Kiloboti“ can form a variety of two-dimensional shapes without human assistance.
The robots are powered by lithium batteries, which they loaded their own. „Kiloboti“move three feet and are equipped with a pair of vibratory motors.
Responsible for communication is infrared transceiver: signal is sent to the floor, reflected and recognized by the nearest neighbors.
