An armed group attacked a prison in Haiti and freed the prisoners there.
In the prison Croix December de Bouquets, located near the capital Port-au-Prince, there were more than 800 prisoners. The number of escapees is still unknown.
According to the Associated Press, among runaways was a member of an influential family, who is accused of kidnapping.
After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010 the prison was financed with funds donated by Canada. Then a large part of Port-au-Prince turned into ruins.
