Not only our officials show imagination and creativity: foreign legislators also make funny the life of the local law enforcement officers. For example, in some countries, the traditional set of rules of conduct on the beach is complemented with funny prohibitions. We have selected the most ridiculous, stupid and sometimes cruel laws of foreign sea resorts.
Everyone knows that in many Muslim countries topless sunbathing is not allowed, and in some of them the woman is not allowed to appear in a public in a bathing suit, unless it is a special cut. But many would be surprised that the nudity prohibition in recreational areas is enshrined in the law of Sri Lanka, Thailand and the Maldives. For their too frank appearance on local beaches, the tourists can be fined quite a decent amount.
Significant fine for public stripping can be „earned“ and on the beaches of Italy. In this country the women have the opportunity to be „a little more stripped“ only in the supine position. Swim, stand and move topless is strictly prohibited.
These Italian moralists do not stop here – penalties await those tourists who love to put their wet clothes on beach umbrellas and sunbeds. The method of changing clothes wrapped in a towel is also punishable by law.
In some regions of Italy act ruthless laws that are actually blatant discrimination because of the appearance. In the southern town of Tropea is illegal to appear undressed „the woman who is fat, ugly or deformed. This right only have the young women who show the beauty of the female body.“ And what are the criteria for „beauty“ in the law is not specified.
