Maximilian Schich, art historian from the University of Texas at Dallas, and his colleagues have created the most complete map of the birth and death of prominent historical figures.
Researchers have marked on the world map the places where were born and died Leonardo da Vinci, George Washington, etc., and thus they follow the rise and fall of the world’s cultural centers.
To compile the impressive map Shich uses the database Google Freebase. So he has collected reliable information about the places of birth and death of 120 000 prominent historical figures.
The list is very extensive, starting from Solon, the Greek legislator and poet who was born in 637 BC in Athens and died in 557 BC in Cyprus and ends with Jett Travolta, son of actor John Travolta, who was born in 1992 in Los Angeles, California, and died in 2009 in the Bahamas.
